Based in Liguria, Italy, Piaggio Aero is one of the world's oldest aviation manufacturers, and its planes have been well known in the industry for generations. Piaggio Aero is a successful Italian company, and there are subsidiaries in both France and the United States although production is done at the Liguria location.
Piaggio makes and sells the P. 180 Avanti to parties interested in owning their own corporate or private jet. The Piaggio Avanti is a twin engine plane developed with assistance from Lear Jet in the early 1980s. The Avanti seats up to nine passengers in a pressurized cabin and is flown by one or two pilots.
The Piaggio Avanti II received approval from the United States and Europe in 2005 and within six months seventy of the planes were ordered.
