Piper Aircraft is located in Vero Beach, Florida and specializes in the design and manufacturer of propeller driven airplanes. Originally Taylor Brothers Aircraft Manufacturing Company, the company has changed hands and names many times. After becoming Piper Aircraft Corporation, the company was shut down for a time as insurance became too much to bear. The company reopened as Piper Aircraft in 1937 and has been successful since.

Recently, the company joined a venture with Honda to market the new HondaJet which was released to the market in 2005.

The PiperJet is the first of the jet aircraft to be attempted by Piper. The PiperJet is a single engine very light jet (VLJ) that will carry six passengers. The VLJ will compete with the Cessna Citation Mustang and Eclipse 500. Currently the PiperJet is expected to enter service in 2010. The jet was announced in 2006 and is currently in production stages.
